ProtonVPN’s free offering is really one of the best available on the VPN market, with unlimited server use and multiple free servers in 3 locations. The USA is particularly well covered, even on the free version, with no less than 11 separate American server locations offered for free and unlimited use. You’re not going to get that anywhere else on the VPN market.

We’ve given a brief overview of the free & Premium servers elsewhere, but one downside is that these server locations are not specifically listed within the free section of the ProtonVPN interface. They’re just given anonymous server numbers, and you only actually find out which location you’ve got once you’ve connected to the server and done an IP location lookup using one of those online tools.

But I’ve done the hard yards on this and actually tested each individual current free ProtonVPN server for the 3 countries offered (USA, Japan, Netherlands), so I can list which numbered server connects you to which location.

This is more so for the USA free servers, since there are 11 different locations offered – Netherlands and Japan is more straightforward. But I’ll list all free server numbers and the locations they connect you to, so you don’t have to keep trying different servers until you get the right one.
